About Mark
Hi and welcome to the world of online business!
My name is Mark and I am the founder and owner of Web Zulu.
My friends call me 'Zulu'. It's a long story about the origin of the name. I am not African, and have never travelled there. I do, however, have a long-held fascination with the stories of South Africa and Kenya, sparked by my love of Wilbur Smith's Courtney series, which has triggered my respect and admiration for the courage and fighting spirit of the Zulu tribes.
The Zulu component of the name encapsulates the warrior spirit of the Zulu people. Our catchcry is "Fighting for Small Business".
By this term, we mean that we are pro-small business. We love the energy that startups and small businesses bring, and we work hard to remove the confusion in an ever-more-complex business environment.
Small business is the heart of this country, people having a go and expecting a fair deal. I dislike seeing businesses getting ripped off or being left in the lurch by web developers and I will step in to assist where I can, to help decipher where digital assets are located and how to regain control of their intellectual property.
I have been in this industry a long time and my longevity in business breaks down to three simple factors:

- Natural curiosity for new technology
- Real people. Real conversations and Real relationships
Flashback to 2010. Yes, that's me at my laptop.
At the time, I was working full-time and building websites at night, often with one of my three kids on my lap, a glass of wine and trying to keep it all together. When I say I 'get small business', I'm not just making it up!
And I've made all the classic mistakes too! I've over-serviced, undercharged, dismissed social media, and had no systems in place. I've done everything but quit! and the beauty in that is I get to share my experience with other start-up businesses.
